How to know Pinot like a Pro

How to know Pinot like a Pro

First and foremost, when you come to visit Napa Valley or Sonoma County, make sure you take a look at an Appellation map! An Appellation is a particular wine region legally marked and protected. Each country has their own geographic borders to determine their wine appellations. For example, “Appellations in the United States are referred to as American Viticultural Areas (AVA). For a wine to get this badge of honor, federal laws state that at least 75% of the grapes used must be from that specific AVA.” (usualwines.com)

Here at WALT Wines, we love Pinot Noir from up and down the West Coast – we don’t discriminate! We source our grapes from 5 Appellations with vineyards located in the most prestigious locations in the Anderson Valley, California’s Central Coast, Oregon’s Willamette Valley, and Sonoma and Napa Counties. Each of these Appellations are unique from their climate to their soil, impacting the flavors of all the Pinot Noir we produce. We broke it down for you so that you can explore each wine and their flavors. Cheers to 1,000 Miles of Pinot!
